Cakoi - Deep fried bread sticks

These deep fried bread sticks are very popular in Chinese and Southeast Asia cuisines.  They are eaten as accompaniment for rice congee or with coffee/tea usually sold early at morning markets and sometimes night markets.


Ingredients:
2  1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup water
1 tablespoon butter, melted
3 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon milk
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoon instant yeast
oil for frying
1 garlic and onion finely grind

Method
1. Mix butter, sugar, milk, yolk, garlic and onion.
2. Mix water with yeast and let dissolve.
3. Add to butter mixture.
4. Add flour and knead well
5. Cover for 1/2 hour.
6. Roll and knead.
7. Roll and cut into strips.
8. Deep fry until golden brown.
