Boating at Tam Coc, Vietnam

Definitely a tourist trap, but the sampan boat ride is enjoyable.  Crowded with many tourists boating along the river, the ride winding through the karst mountains is tranquil and you can even spot mountain goats. A favorite part of the boat ride is when you boat through the dark grottoes with the limestone cliffs inches above your head and as you emerge into the bright sunlight, craggy cliffs welcome you.

The most irritating thing about this boat ride is when a group of boat traders will try to sell you drinks and tit-bits.  They will also pester you to buy for the rower who will not actually drink it.  On the way back, at the dock you will again be pestered by vendors but a persistent "No" will do and just give a tip to the rower.
